I'm still in the Beginner stage of 180's, but now I'm seeing those quarter pipe opportunities everywhere on the mtn. Time to do the Small jump 180 I suppose. I do get braver as I grow. I relate to this video much better now that I'm actually doing real 180s!

Haha, love edge changing in the air. Am getting on a fair bit now, and still hit the park and the big jumps, but don't spin much if ever anymore. But going 16M kicker and hard carve in large travel and shifty to landing on the other edges and carving out never loses it's appeal 🙂

I have an old pair of pre m6’s….yes they are old….actually were a pro deal from the winter of 89/90….they came with Solomon 757 composites….probably about 100 days on them….they were put aside decades ago…torque tested them 2 year’s ago….they passed.

One BIG thing that I would avoid teaching new skiiers is pizza. Doing pizza with the skis is a good way to slow down if you have no control, but its also a great way to throw out your leg when going on anything steeper than the bunny slopes. Its much better to teach proper turning instead of "pizza to slow down, french fry to speed up"

Great stuff, Jens and Kerr! Well articulated! It would be cool to see a close-up or animated illustration of what putting the skis on edge as you roll on your ankles looks like. Is it as simple as tipping from one side to the other like carving toe-side and heel-side on a snowboard?

Thank you. I have Carv and love it. Could you make a video on how to go slower and still have proper form. I can have quite good form 135 ski IQ but only when I am going fast (50-60 mph and I am a thin person so it’s quite fast for my size) When I slow it down my form goes down the gutter. Thank you!

Just don't wax your skies, or ski on less steep slopes 😂... Honestly, it's hard to say if you don't identify what exactly starts to go wrong with your form.

In gymnastics we have a saying you go where your head goes or you look. If you set a front tuck looking down you'll never gain height. It's amazing how much the ~12;bs of the head messes with the axis of rotation for the whole body.

Pay for lessons the first few times you ski. You will have a much, much better time and build up your skills gradually. My first ski trip was in France and we had ski lessons every day - we spent the whole time in snowplough on downhills which is a very slow way to start but it’s the safest and as you keep doing some gentle hills you will naturally start to parallel ski as you become more confident.

The Booster straps have Blown My Mind when Popping!!! I cannot believe how far & high off the snow I can get now, especially w/speed & a good half-second preload wind-up on my knees for the POP! I've noticed I'm much more comfortable Sending Spreadies when I Pop high vertically, and I'm much better at Sending grabs on jumps that launch me OUT farther than UP. I want to grab when I POP High, I'm sure trampoline time will help w/this, any other tips? Thanks so much for everything my Stomp It Bros!!!

I've meant to try learning Japan & Mute grabs, but my Safeties have been so shit this season I haven't tried progression, I really want to dial in nice Safeties 1st. Then in the power beginning this April, w/o thinking about it, began Sending nice legit Safeties w/good arm extension & Pop! The wk before I was getting the arm out forward, which was progress! Onto the Japan now!

A good video. Just small notes, aerobic and and anaerobic are factually incorrect and drastically misleading and outdated terms. Anaerobic energy system can only keep you going for very short sprints (seconds). Correct terms are first and second ventilatory thresholds. Below the first one you are on base endurance zone. The main fuel source is fat but some part of energy is always taking from carbs even then. When the breathing deepens, one is moving to "speed endurance" zone. This is is significantly more taxing than the base endurance zone and recovery takes longer. The fuel mix starts to tip towards carbs. A trained recrational fellow can withstand this zone for 2-4 hours. The speed endurance zone ends to the second ventilatory threshold. The intensity is becoming very high and typically a trained individual can withstand this intensity around and hour or so. Very little fat is used at this point but it's all aerobic still. One good place to learn a bit more about this is for instance Inigo San Millan's work ( scientist in this domain and also training top road biking athletes) .
